We are a New Creation

2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

This devotional finds you a couple of weeks past Easter Sunday, “Resurrection Sunday”, as church people like to call it. We also find ourselves in the midst of spring, rain, growth, green, old leaves blowing away, new vegetation blooming. The newness of this season should resonate with what we have just celebrated together as a church. Our life made new through Christ's death and resurrection.

When Jesus rose from the grave, He defeated sin and death once and for all. Because of that victory, we are not stuck in our past mistakes, failures, or guilt. In Christ, God offers us something completely new: a new heart, a new direction, and a new identity.

When we feel spiritually dry or weighed down by life, the resurrection reminds us that God specializes in bringing life out of what seemed dead. The invitation for us is simple: live in the reality of that new life. Walk in the freedom Jesus purchased. Let His resurrection power shape how we think, love others, and follow Him daily.

Ask God how you can share this gift of freedom with someone today. Don’t hide your gift, let the whole world see that you are a new creation!
