Pastor Joy
The Bible Recap Study has just begun, you are about 3 weeks in and your New Years Resolutions are still going strong! Things are looking up! Life is on track!
1. Read my bible every day
2. Eat healthy
3. Exercise 5 days a week
4. No yelling at the dinner table
5. No speeding on Hewitt Dr.
6. Get straight A’s this semester
Oh, wait...oh no! The transmission just went out in my car, my kid just got sick for the 3rd time in 4 weeks, another fight with my spouse, I overslept my alarm again, that car cut me off on Hewitt Dr.!
Sounds about right. Life invades your resolutions to devote time and attention to bettering yourself. The following isn’t a recipe for a quick fix. But we do have what the world doesn’t have, and that is hope.
The forward in The Bible Recap, One Year Guide states:
“This book is dedicated to every person who has tried and failed countless times to read the Bible, who has almost given up on understanding God and His Word, and who is here, trying one more time-with equal parts hope, fear, and skepticism-to draw near to the God of the universe. May you come to know and love Him more and to understand that despite all your failures, He has never given up on pursuing you with love to this very page.
‘And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.’ -Philippians 1:6
HCC family, We are human with the tendency to fail at life when we go at it on our own strength. But by God’s strength, we are capable. When you are discouraged, remember God won’t give up on you. He promises to finish the work he has begun.
Remember God’s promise and provision. Don’t let your present condition rob you of the joy of knowing Christ or keep you from growing closer to Him.
