Pastor Joy

Day 202! Congratulations Everyone! Did you ever think you would make it this far? Keep up the reading and keep up the great work going deeper and deeper into God’s word.

Today’s devotion comes from the book by Max Andrews, 30 Day to Growing in Your Faith. The first chapter, titled “The Key to Happiness".

1. It is okay for a Christian to be happy.

2. We naturally doubt that God alone is enough for our happiness.

3. We must seek our happiness in God.

4. Only when we are convinced that our true happiness lies in following God and not sin

(anything outside the will of God) will we have the power to fully turn from sin.

The Psalms states here: 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

42:1 As the deer pants for water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God.

119:103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

16:11 In your presence there is fullness of joy; at you right and are pleasures forevermore.

There are deep longings expressed in these scriptures that can only be fulfilled by God and we see that we must go to the Lord to be filled.

Do you want to be happy? We all do. We must accept by faith that our true happiness lies in following God and not sin. We must resist the lie of the snake, that God does not have our best interests in mind and that we must take control of things ourselves in order to get what we need to be happy. Rather, we must give ourselves to the pursuit of the one who created us with deep longings (in order to draw us to himself), since he is the only one who can truly and permanently fulfill them.

Lord, today I give my deepest longings and desires to you, the one who created me. You

created me for your purposes and I want to grow deeper and deeper more in love and

relationship with you. Help me to seek You and know You have my best interests in mind. I

believe that I have victory in Christ over all things. I trust that there is more grace in you than sin in me. Thank you for saving me Jesus. Amen
