Waiting Upon the Lord
Pastor Ken
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
…they that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings of eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
One application of the word “wait” is “to collect and bind”. It evokes the imagery of collecting and binding a bunch of old newspapers or magazines together in preparation for depositing them at the local recycling center. Once they are dropped off, you are then free to go about your day, to attend to your daily responsibilities.
In the same manner, “waiting upon the Lord” is the equivalent of collecting and binding your cares, your concerns, and your circumstances together and depositing them at the foot of the cross. Once you’ve done so, you are free to go about your day, to attend to your daily responsibilities all the while looking for His help and guidance.
When you bring your needs in faith to the Lord in this manner, the Scripture does not say that He’ll immediately resolve everything, but it does say that He’ll give you the strength necessary to sustain you until the day comes when those needs are finally met.
In this respect, God can equally perform the miraculous in the waiting as much as he can perform the miraculous in the answering.
Today, my prayer for you is that God will do the miraculous in your life; that He will bring about the answer you’ve been waiting so long to receive. But if He does not, my prayer is that you will recognize the miraculous God is performing in you, as you continue to wait.
Have a great Monday
