Daily in the Word
Pastor Joy
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” — Psalm 119:105
We all know that we need food every day to keep our bodies healthy. In a more eternal perspective, our souls need daily nourishment and sustenance from God’s Word.
Reading the Bible isn’t simply about checking something off our spiritual to-do list. Scripture is how God teaches us who He is, reminds us of what is true, corrects us when we get off course, and gives us wisdom for the decisions we face every day.
We don't need Scripture only when we're struggling, making a big decision, or looking for encouragement. We need it every day.
And studying Scripture goes beyond simply reading the words. Reading asks, “What does this say?” Studying asks, “What does this mean, and how should it change the way I live?” As we slow down, ask questions, look at context, and allow the Holy Spirit to teach us, God's Word begins to shape our thinking, our character, and our choices.
Joshua 1:8 says, “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it.”
The goal isn't simply to know more Bible. The goal is to know God more deeply and become more like Christ.
So, make time for God's Word. Even if it's 10–15 minutes. Put down the phone. Open your Bible. Read slowly. Ask God to speak through His Word. Write down what stands out. Ask, “What is God showing me, and what am I going to do with it?”
HCC family! Let’s read the word of God together! We read it because we want to know the God who loves us, has saved us, and wants to lead us. Join HCC’s year long bible reading plan as we read through the bible together. We began the New Testament this month, it’s definitely not too late to join us!
